Intradermal Injection
1. Hand washing.
2.Prepare all the equipments.
3.Countercheck medication card to the order of the doctor.
4.Do your drug study. Knowing the 10 rights in administering medication.
5.Calculate accurately the volume and strength of medication to be administer.
6.Complete data in medication card.
7.Get proper size of syringe and needle to be used.
8.Place medication card, syringe and needle in hypodermic tray.
9.Go to your patient, introduce self and give proper explanation.
10.Privacy.
11.Position client comfortably in sitting position.
12.Prepare antibiotic or vitamins by mixing the desired amount of solvent to the vial. Shake well.
13.Aspirate 0.9cc of distilled water. Then add 0.1cc of the solution or medication.
14.Expose the injection site,inner aspect of the forearm, with adequate lightning. Select area that is not hairy.
15.Cleanse the site with cotton balls with 70% alcohol in circular motion, from inner to outer.
16.Remove needle guard carefully.
17.Strecth skin "taut" by pulling skin to the back of arm with left hand. Site is antecubital fossa
18.Pick up syringe and hold it between the thumb and first three fingers.
19.Thrusting the needle almost parallel to the skin at 15 degree angle.
20.Inject solution slowly until you produce a small wheal on the skin.
21.Withdraw the needle quickly at the same angle it was inserted.
22.Don't massage the area.
23.Encirle the injection site with black ink. Write the medication name and time you will return to read for the result. Usually after 30 mins.
25.Do aftercare and dispose needle properly.
26.Wash hands.
