Providing Perineal-Genital Care (Female) Procedure

1. Gather all equipments.
2. Introduce your self, and verify the client's identity & explain the procedure.
3. Handwashing
4. Provide Privacy
5. Prepare the client. Fold the top linen to the foot of the bed and fold the gown up to expose the genital area. Place bath towel under the client's hips.
6. Position and drape the client.
7. Place the rubber sheet and bed pan under the patient's buttocks.
8. Position the female in a back lying position with her knees slightly flexed and spread well apart.
9. Drape the legs by tucking the bottom corners of the bath blanket exposing only the part to be cleansed.
10. Put on gloves, wash and dry the upper inner thighs.
11. Flushes the perineal area using warm water.
12. Cleanses starting from the midline of symphysis pubis down to the anus using a cotton ball soaked with cleansing solution.Discard used cotton ball into the emesis basin.
13. Get another cotton ball & cleanses starting from the mons veneris in figure of 7 by way of external labium towards anus.Does likewise in opposite side.
14. Clean groin.
15. Flushes thoroughly with warm water.
16. Duries using the same stroke as above using dry cotton balls or gauze.
17. Remove bedpan & places patient in comfortable position, making sure the bedding are dry.
18. Empty bedpan, cleans equipment & returns to the proper place.
19. Wash hands.
20. Document findings.
